St. Charles native, Joyce Hillquist, has always had a love of art. With a good eye and eclectic taste, she has collected fine paintings from local artists and works from around the world. In recent years, she has come full circle and has become the artist, pursuing her great passion. Joyce has studied with two well knows artists-Rodger Bechtold and David P. Hettinger. A week long seminar with Bechtold in Washington Island, Wisconsin unleashed an appreciation for plein air painting. A member of the Fine Line Creative Arts Center, she has taken classes with Alyce VanAcker, Carol Zack, and George Shipperley. At the Von Liebig Art Center in Naples, FL, Joyce worked with various artists in numerous workshops. She is a long time member of the Art Institute of Chicago and the American Pastel Society.
