Sarah Raskey
During our first Friday of the month Gallery Walk on June 4th we are delighted to present our featured artist Sarah Raskey.
About the Artist:
My entire creative journey has overlapped significantly with my spiritual journey and become an artistic life mission.
My artwork is a poetic and visual diary of the people, conversations, and moments I have experienced in my personal life, and also within my daily work as an art therapist servicing those suffering from a severe mental illness.
My art is about celebrating what it means to be a fledgling/evolving human. Each piece of my work captures a human moment or a glimpse of the human spirit. These moments are reflective of a time in space that I connected with someone through reciprocal sharing of stories and feelings with candid sincerity and a willingness to be open with one another without shields and armor.

These moments are real and brave…honest and imperfect. Whether through glimpses of pride, grief, laughter, beauty tragedy, vulnerability, love, etc. these human moments can enlighten us by reminding us of our collective human experience. Each image is personal yet universal, and offers innumerable wonders to discover and contemplate.
I believe in the power of art to provide us with a deep and exciting language that can awaken us to personal introspection, growth, connection, and healing. Whether humbling or stirring, I hope that my work inspires others to transcend the mundane by pointing to the inherent profoundness that lies in each human moment and how being perceptive to those moments can help support and contribute to the evolution of human connection and universal consciousness.

I continue to explore the relationship between art and spirituality by participating in a variety of spiritual and cultural endeavors including but not limited to Shamonic studies, Buddhist practices, Native American ceremonial traditions etc. This exploration of varying cultures and traditions feeds my soul and helps me to become a more conscious person, artist, and therapist. The more I am exposed to these meaningful experiences, the more I allow for personal evolution and artistic growth.
I am passionate about creating artwork that is rooted in human connection, empowerment, and healing. I believe that art connects people and that it is a sacred gift.
I believe that art is an innovative tool that can aid in a variety of social concerns by pointing to the interconnectedness of ourselves to everything around us.
